The day before yesterday was the Chinese traditional Laba Festival, 2019 Chinese New Year Party – “foreigners in love with Zhengzhou - we are all dream chasers” was held in M Hotel Zhengzhou.
前天是中國傳統的臘八節，“老外愛上鄭州-我們都是追夢人”2019新春聯歡會在鄭州M酒店上演。
Experts, scholars, representatives of overseas students and overseas-funded enterprises who work or study in Zhengzhou from the United States, Britain, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Brazil, South Africa, Sudan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Thailand and other countries as well as overseas returnees gathered together to celebrate the festival, tasting porridge and watching programs.
來自美國、英國、德國、俄羅斯、瑞典、巴基斯坦、吉爾吉斯斯坦、伊朗、蒙古、老撾、柬埔寨、尼泊爾、巴西、南非、蘇丹、孟加拉國、津巴布韋、埃及、泰國等國家的在鄭工作、學習的專家、學者、留學生代表，外資企業代表以及海外留學歸國人士代表共聚一堂，品嘗香粥，觀賞節目、歡度佳節。
Speaking of the original intention of holding this party, an officer of the International Communication Office of CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee which is one of the sponsors of the celebration party mentioned in his speech that “today is the traditional Chinese festival “Laba”. We choose this festival to invite foreigners studying or working in Zhengzhou to gather together, giving them warm greetings on behalf of people of Zhengzhou, Henan. Meanwhile, we also hope that this activity will be an opportunity to get publicity for Zhengzhou, shaping the style of an international city and letting more people thumb up for Zhengzhou!"
談到舉辦這次活動的初衷，主辦方鄭州市委外宣辦相關負責人在致辭中提到，今天是中國的傳統節日“臘八節”，選擇在這樣一個節日邀請在鄭學習工作的外國朋友歡聚在一起，就是希望在座的各位外國朋友能感受到來自河南、來自鄭州人民的溫暖問候，“同時也希望這樣的活動可以更好地宣傳鄭州、推介鄭州，講好鄭州故事，塑造國際城市潮范，讓更多人為鄭州豎起大拇指！”
As one of the eight ancient capitals in China, Zhengzhou boasts of 8,000-year-old Peiligang cultural relics, 6,000-year-old Dahe Village cultural relics, and 5,000-year-old Huangdi culture. It is also home to Shaolin Temple, with Shaolin kung fu famous all over the world; Huangdi, the ancestor of Chinese civilization; Songshan, with a long history and a galaxy of advanced culture and talents; Yellow River, forming the Yellow River civilization only in Zhengzhou; ancient city of commerce, witnessing civilization.

With a brilliant ancient civilization, Zhengzhou has written a remarkable chapter in the development of modernization. Zhengzhou's rapid development has attracted more and more foreigners to invest, start up business, work or study in Zhengzhou in recent years according to information. “Wherezhengzhou”, a Chinese and English publication sponsored by the International Communication Office of CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and Zhengzhou Media Group, is oriented at foreigners in Zhengzhou. In the past two years, it has become a window for foreign friends to learn about Zhengzhou, Henan and China.
鄭州的飛速發展也吸引了越來越多外國友人的目光。據了解，近年來，來鄭州投資創業、工作學習的外國朋友越來越多。由鄭州市委外宣辦指導、鄭州報業集團主管主辦的中英雙語外宣刊物wherezhengzhou正是專為在鄭州的外國友人創辦的閱讀刊物，兩年來，它已經成為外國友人了解鄭州、了解河南、了解中國的窗口。
The party was spectacular, with friends from many countries taking the stage. There were classical music, opera, kung fu, acrobatics and other programs showcasing traditional Chinese culture and Henan's long and splendid civilization, as well as English songs, South African dances and street dances.
聯歡會堪稱異彩紛呈，多個國家的朋友紛紛登臺表演，不僅有展現中國傳統文化、展現河南悠久燦爛文明的古典樂、戲曲、功夫、雜技等節目，也有英文歌曲、南非舞蹈和街舞。
Girls Band performed the classical music Yue Fang, showing the charm of traditional Chinese musical instruments; Liu Miaomiao and Liu Shanquan, famous performance artists of Henan opera, performed the classic Henan opera Chaoyanggou, showing the lasting appeal of Henan opera vividly; Shen Zhen, head of the Foreign Affairs Section of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Henan University of Technology, KUMISBEKOV KUANISHBEK (Chinese name Kun Jie) from Uzbekistan, Istiak Ahamed (Chinese name Bing) from Bangladesh and GWANG (Chinese name Yin Chengxing) from Thailand sang the Chinese song Jasmine flower together, which resonated with the audience. The demanding acrobatic performance Strength and Beauty showed the beauty of strength and softness. Four beautiful South African girls performed the inspiring dance of WAKA WAKA, the theme song of 2010 World Cup. TCM practitioners from Zhengzhou Second Hospital performed Ba Duan Jin exercise, and Chinese Tai Chi coaches and foreign guests performed Tai Chi together. The calligraphy performance with the participation of foreign guests made people appreciate the charm of Chinese traditional culture. The Blue Sea Band, including Diony from Colombia, Anna and Niko from Russia and OKSANA from Ukraine sang lively and rhythmic English songs, bringing the party to the climax.
女子樂坊帶來的古典樂《樂坊》展現了中國國樂樂器的魅力；著名豫劇表演藝術家劉苗苗和劉善全帶來經典豫劇《朝陽溝》選段“雙上山”，把豫劇的醇美韻味展現得淋漓盡致；來自河南工業大學國際交流與合作處涉外科科長沈貞、烏茲別克斯坦的KUMISBEKOV KUANISHBEK（中文名：昆杰）、孟加拉國的Istiak Ahamed（中文名：冰）和泰國的GWANG（中文名：銀成星），聯袂演唱了中文歌曲《茉莉花》，引起全場共鳴；高難度的雜技表演《力與美》，盡顯剛強之態與陰柔之美；四位漂亮的南非姑娘帶來的2010年南非世界杯主題曲《WAKA WAKA》的舞蹈震奮人心；來自鄭州第二人民醫院的中醫們帶來了八段錦表演，中國的太極拳教練和現場外籍嘉賓一起演繹了太極拳；由外籍嘉賓參與的書法表演更是讓人領略到中國傳統文化的魅力；由來自哥倫比亞的Diony，來自俄羅斯的Anna和Niko，來自烏克蘭的OKSANA組成的藍海浪樂隊帶來的英文歌曲串燒節奏明快，把聯歡會推向了高潮……
On the site, the foreign friends tasted "Laba porridge" with keen pleasure. Moreover, the sponsors also set up special Chinese traditional etiquette and a toss game, featuring competitive interaction, which was fresh, interesting, and cheerful.
活動現場還精心準備了“臘八粥”，外國友人品嘗得津津有味。主辦方還特別設置了中國傳統禮儀和宴飲游戲——投壺游戲，新鮮有趣，競技互動，其樂融融。
Lea, a German psychology teacher at Zhengzhou University, was one of the hosts of the event. She said that with the combination of rich Chinese culture and fashionable modern life, Zhengzhou is a good place for her career development. She fell in love with it and chose to settle here. For Lea, Zhengzhou also has Shaolin Temple and Songshan Mountain she will never forget, and her favorite barbecue, steamed stuffed buns and dumplings. "I am also attracted by Guqin, Guzheng, and classical dance especially, which is gorgeous."
鄭州大學德國籍心理學老師Lea（中文名：蕾雅），是此次活動的主持人之一，她說，鄭州不僅有濃厚的中國文化，還有很時尚的現代生活，這里是她事業發展的福地，她愛上了這里，并且選擇在這里定居。對蕾雅來說，鄭州不僅是她實現夢想的地方，這里的美景和美食也同樣吸引她，少林寺、嵩山等是她念念不忘的美景，燒烤、包子和餃子是她最愛的中國食物。“吸引我的還有古琴、古箏、古典舞蹈，尤其是中國古典舞蹈，太美了。”
Nauman Umer (Chinese name Wang Yong), a Pakistani master student in computer science and technology at Henan University of Technology, was a natural envoy for Zhengzhou as President of Foreign Student Union of the University. “We have a great time today, we all gather here because of dreams and the love of Zhengzhou, and I’m beyond happy that we had such a beautiful and wonderful festival together.”
來自巴基斯坦的Nauman Umer（中文名：王勇）是河南工業大學計算機科學與技術專業碩士研究生,擔任該校外國留學生學生會主席的他，自然而然成了宣傳鄭州的使者。“今天的聯歡會非常High,大家因為夢想而相聚在鄭州，又因為對鄭州的熱愛而相聚在這里，一起度過了這么美好而精彩的節日，太開心了。”
This activity was co-hosted by the International Communication Office of CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee, Zhengzhou Media Group, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Government and Zhengzhou Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and organized by Zhengzhou Times and WhereZhengzhou.
